No one works harder, and with more precision, than the Amish. For the American Boulangerie Series, we’ve employed several local Amish mills to process some truly fine lumber from several Granges constructed between 1830 and 1875. Seeing Arthur, a local Amish sawyer, hunched over the machinery of his steam-powered mill, one is transported to another time. As he slices huge beams and planks, the exposed edges show the character that one only sees in aged solid hemlock. Once we’ve applied several hearty coats of all-natural shellac to this wood, it almost glows with a comforting hue that reminds us of the glow of our woodstove on a winter night.
We’re certain that the American Boulangerie Series will transport you to a simpler time; a time not only when things were slower, but a time when things were made right and lasted long.
